Mission Statement
MISSION
‘Nurturing the individuality of every learner towards excellence’.
To guide and support the learners of the Northdene community by developing them to their full potential and providing a good foundation for life.
VISION
A. WE WILL ENDEAVOUR TO UPHOLD THE FOLLOWING PRINCIPLES AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS:
To serve the community of Northdene as a co-educational Primary School.
To develop the whole child by fostering intellectual growth:
By broadening the child’s knowledge of himself/herself:
The child’s ideas and his/her capabilities
And by maintaining a proper balance between academic, sporting and cultural activities.
To instil self-respect and self-discipline in order to adopt and contribute
meaningfully to society.
To develop a sense of moral integrity in all situations and relationships.
In the short term we aim to prepare learners for Secondary School. We will strive for a consistently-high standard of work, teaching through the medium of English, we will encourage each learner to excel according to his/her own ability.
Historically Northdene Preparatory School had a Christian Ethos. We aim to promote a belief in and reverence for God. We teach learners to RESPECT the choice of individuals as far as beliefs and cultures are concerned.
Learners will be encouraged to enjoy and participate in a variety of sporting and cultural activities.
To encourage educator development and excellence.
We aim to recognise excellent performance among the educator staff of the school and to attract good, qualified educators to join the staff.
To encourage parental support in the management of the school.
The interest and support of the parents is encouraged while it cannot be made obligatory. It must be recorded that final decision-making in academic matters rests with the professional management of the school.
Parents need to acknowledge the responsibilities and capabilities of the educators – and parental involvement should be supported by staff and management.
As a community, to meet the financial commitment necessary to implement these principles.
The parent body will be required to provide the funds necessary for the existing facilities and standards to be maintained and improved upon. A greater degree of ingenuity in raising funds, and responsibility in the dispensing of them, will be required.
Expenditure on academic requirements should have priority.
B. AIMS OF THE SCHOOL
Our aim is to create a happy, stable community in which each learner has a part to play. We seek to provide a broad range of worthwhile experiences and to create opportunities for each learner to realise his/her full potential.
We aim to equip each learner with the skills necessary for basic schoolwork, to develop any creative or physical ability and to encourage the acquisition of thoughtful and considerate attitudes.
We have a genuine belief that it is necessary for learners to gain a sense of satisfaction from school activities, and for learners to be happy in school, if these aims are to be realised.
