Medical Matters
If your child has been ill for a day or two, it is necessary that a letter is brought when he/she returns to school. These letters should not be written in the homework diaries. In the event of a prolonged illness or childhood disease, please telephone the school informing us of the situation.
If a learner is taken ill at school, or has an accident which we think may need medical attention, we try to contact the parents. For this reason, we require accurate details of contact numbers etc.
A sick room facility, located in the Media Centre office, is only used in emergencies.
Should it not be possible to contact the parents in an emergency situation, we would arrange for treatment at a casualty department at a hospital, which may incur a cost to the parents.
We have members of staff qualified in First Aid to give advise on these matters.
We do not recommend that learners come to school when they are ill and need medicine, but we are willing to help learners complete a course of medication when they are fit to return to school, or to help administer to a learner with special needs such as asthma. However, we are able to do this only if clear, written instructions about doses and times are supplied.
If your child shows any signs of being upset at school times or shows any reluctance to come to school, please do not hesitate to let us know. It is imperative for us to be aware of this situation so that we can find out if any situation in school may be the cause of the problem.
